how do i go about getting a business name

hi, i have been deciding on having a business name i was thinking of little rascalz i am hoping no one else will have this name. does anybody know how i check and how much its costs to have a name or can i just use it for advertising without paying

please help i have no idea where to start

Have a look at www.businesslink.gov.uk under the heading "choose the right name for your business". There are tools on there for you to check whether the name you want has already been registered by a limited company or is a registered trade mark. As long as it has not you can call yourself what you want I believe - you don't have to register the name or pay unless you want to purchase the domain name (if you want to set up a website).

thanks that really helps i dont want to have a website it was just for posters, business cards and maybe a t shirt for myself
