Yay... that mum who came to see me yesterday with the 5 week old baby called back today, while I was out.

Missed the call, but have caller display, so called her back. She started by saying, thank you very much for taking the time to see us yesterday...' which I thought was going to turn into the but we have decided to go with x instead'. But she didn't.

She came round 20 mins later & signed the contract. She had forgot her bag, so didn't have a chq for the deposit, but said she will drop it round to me.

She goes back to work in July, but I haven't got a space until Sept, and she's happy with that. I have said if a space comes up before, or any of them go on holiday during the summer hols, then I may be able to help her out here & there before. And I told her about my 3 week holiday at xmas yesterday, so she must have liked me!

I definitley think it's a confidence thing. I've been doing it a year, and I've had a few prospective parents for babies, when I started, but felt inferior because I had no 'experience', so kind of put myself down. Now I have a few on my books, so feel more confident! To all the newbies - don't give up - it will happen. It's taken me a year to get a full timer, but I have!!

that's great, well done.

I agree it is about confidence and also you know you are busy so if they say 'no' then it doesn't matter that much because you will get another call soon hence you are more relaxed and confident.anyway...

well done

I charge a £50 deposit which is deducted off the first bill, but non refundable if they don't take up the space.

congratulations!!!!

I really dont think experience matters to be honest, i think its all to do with who the person feels most comfortable with if a parent clicks with you then they are more likely to choose you over an experienced minder who they didnt click with!!
