Would you use this as an observation?

My mindee 1yr has started posting things through my cat flap:rolleyes: She will purposfully (SP) go & get something & carry it into the kitchen & post it, then will spend sometime looking through it to see if she can see it.

So like the title says: Would you write an observation up on this?

You could do -

PSR&N - working out how to get the right size thing through the flap

KUW - working out how the flap works.

PSED - understanding that you are not going to keep going outside to bring the things back in!!!!!!!!!:rolleyes:

Definitely, she is getting so much out of doing that.

She's learning that things are still there even though you can't see them, she's learning cause and effect, hand co-ordination, she's getting exercise from traipsing back and forth, she's being inquisitive, bla bla bla!

I bought a wooden, toy, postbox from ELC and it had little wooden letters to post through and children loooove it! They play with it again and again. It's good for colours as each letter has a different colour, it's good for counting, hand co-ordination, experimenting to see what will fit through the slot, etc.

I think it's a fab activity and they seem to be kept amused by that sort of thing for ages!

My ds2 loves doing this at our neighbours house. When we leave there is always a pile of interesing items on the doorstep :D

I have enjoyed reading this thread very funny as im thinking of mindees up and down sticking their heads through cat flaps and hunkey fire fighters helping worried childminders,

yes lots of photo obs and a next steps ,,, visit post office and send a letter to mummy and daddy,, grandparents etc,,,

oh and put a bucket under your catflap to catch all the posted toys lol
