View Full Version : Nursery World Conference - We should be very proud of Sarah

Pauline

Sarah won't blow her own trumpet and tell you about this so I want to do it on her behalf.

She has been asked to be a speaker at the Nursery World Conference in Birmingham on 30th September 2009!

I think it is a measure of Sarah's knowledge of EYFS to have been chosen for this role.

Rather her than me though, I couldn't stand up and speak in front of ten people let alone hundreds!

Enjoy yourself!

Things went brilliantly, it was a lovely day with lots of really inspiring speakers.

I will feed back some new ideas and information over the next few days.

I was the only childminder there though which was a bit sad. I've said to a few local authorities how nice it would be if one childminder at least from their area could have been funded to attend. We really do need to get ourselves out there.

Thank you for asking! :D

Congratulations Sarah. You are a credit to childnminders everywhere.

It is a shame you were the only childminder but from an individual point of view it is so expensive to attend some of these confrences etc and I just couldn't afford the money. I did look into going to the NCMA conference but by the time I get to Leeds and then stay in a hotel , let alone the actual conference it would mean no christmas pressies for the kids.
Shame but that is the way it is.

I agree Pauline we couldn't have asked for a better person to represent childminders but not only did the day for this mean CM's couldn't attend but the cost of it was ridiculous. These NW ones cost about £600 I think I am struggling to find the cost of the NCMA conference

I talked to a lot of network people about this.

I suggested why don't they pay for just one childminder from each area to come... really pay, including finding cover, hotel if necessary, travel etc.

They could put interested names in a hat and pick one out so it's fair.

A few took it on board to go back and discuss I think. :D

Well done Sarah, I have had to speak for just a few minutes at the NCMA conference and that was nerveracking enough!

.... the cost of it was ridiculous. These NW ones cost about £600 I think I am struggling to find the cost of the NCMA conference

Yes, the cost of this NW one makes you realise what good value the NCMA onr is! It has been cut to one day this year as NCMA realised that it was just getting too expensive for many childminders when they had to stay overnight, so hopefully more will be able to attend this year.

Is there a badge for us to wear so that those of us who go can recognise each other?
