3 under threes...buggy?

I may be taking on an additional under 3 which means on two days a week i will have 3 under 3's

an 18 month old, a 9 month old and a 33 month old. I have a Maclaren double at the moment,

But one day a week I may have to do a 20 minute walk to school and back. 40 mins in total with a break in between.

Is this possible. Will a 33 month old be able to cope on say a buggy board? Or am I asking too much?

What alternatives to a buggy board are there? Any ideas?

perhaps the 18 month old could toddle a bit if the 33 month old gets tired, or a back pack for baby?
mountain buggy have an excellent triple buggy but its not cheap or easy to find second hand, other makes are available:D
think i would try without buying one for a couple of weeks and see how you go

Tbh both my 28 month olds do this walk and further each day. I broke my last double buggy and since then we have walked and had no problems.

We did use a buggy board for about six months on the double but it was heavy going.

Give it a go before spending any money:)

I have a 22 month, a 32mth, a 36mth and a 42mth and they would all walk this easily, I never use the buggy for any of them any more.

I have a 12 month, a 18 month, a 26 month and a 34 month old and theolder two would have no problems at all with this walk. The oldest also loves the buggy board so either would be good.
I use wrist reins and they pretend they're dogs......

I would put the baby in a sling, the 18month old in a single pushchair & have a buggyboard for the older child. Or use a sling & the double for the 2 older children.

my mindee is 2 1/2 & has walked a 40min school run today with no problems. However dd wouldn't have managed that walk at a similar age, she would've been sitting on the floor exhausted after 5mins so it depends on the child.

Mine have all walked this distance from about 2-21/2yrs - no probs.

the seat to go fitted to my old maclaren twin traveller (not too expensive) and the child could either sit or stand up but buggy boards will make the buggy heavier with all 3 in/on it and you ahve to walk slightly to the side so you dont hit you shins on the buggy board

Find out what the older one is like with walking. Ds was and still is a pain at walking and he is 5 yet my old mindee was walking far at 30 months and the buggy was just to keep the bags and drinks on!

I had 4 under 3's for a month. 2 1/2, 26 months, 23 months and 17 months. I have a double buggy and 2 wrist srtaps. The 3 older ones took turns in the buggy. Was hard work - walking up to school which is 5 mins away took 15 - 20 minutes!! LOL!!!:laughing:

My 2yr old has been walking the same distance school run for months. However, she is now used to it and prefers to scooter! I do still take the buggy though incase she is tired on the way back, so perhaps a buggy board for the child to hitch a ride if tired but once they get used to the walk they should be fine. I find I mainly get her to sit in when we need to hurry as she isn't the speediest of walkers especially in bad weather.

Next year i will have a 9 month old, a 13 month old and a 22 month old to do a nursery run with by foot. I have been checking and have decided to get one of those buggy boards which also have a seat on them. The child sits facing you as you walk and thden i can use reins to ensure safety. I don't know if this would solve your problem - i have seen them for sale on the web for under £30

I think I can come up with something now!

My worries were more based on my own 4.5 year old who cannot walk this far due to having Hypermobility Syndrome, which gives her painful joints and frequent dislocations. She has to use a scooter for this length of walk.

However I suppose a fit and healthy almost 3 year old may have a fighting chance!

i use a buggy pod its a seat that clips on side of and buggy and folds up when not being used

Someone else posted about that, personally I think its ugly and doesn't look comfortable but I have to say its a bargin at £150.

If you decide to walk then make sure you give yourself plenty of extra time. There's nothing worse than being late with a slow walking child.
