You will have your income lesss expenses plus wear and tear and this will give you a profit of £4747.58 which is lower than your tax allowance and you won't pay tax or national insurance.

I don't think so but if you do it will be £379.00. Have you exhausted all your expenses?

i pay them every month about £8ish off the top of my head..yes expences deff done..the breakdown is this:

Pay from employments £3,511.00
Pay from all employments £3,511.00
Profit from self-employment £4,746.00
Total income received £8,257.00
minus Personal allowance £6,035.00

Total income on which tax is due £2,222.00
Taxed at 20% makes my bill £444..its usually over £1k so happy with it but just making sure!!

Your tax will be about £444.40 plus class 4 NI £177.76 = 622.16 plus 50% as pre payment for next year of £311.08 will give you a total tax bill of £933.24.

Sorry not much left.

What did you tax return say?

Did you complete the employment bit on the return too? Any tax that you paid to your employer has to come off of this too.

On your old what? When you left your employment they would have given you a form showing your income and tax taken. Do you have this?

Then you need to complete to forms:

1 is the employment section and will ask for employers details and then the amount paid = £ and then tax paid which will be £0.00

2 Self employment where you will put in the date you started and two figures £... income and £.... expenses. The computer will calculate everything for you from here

I think the self employment income is low enough not to require you to pay class 4 ni, and also on those figures it isn't likely that they will ask for any on account, you can have a small tax liability and not be asked for any tax on account.

Have you made sure that you have deducted wear and tear and you expenses from you childminding income,

You can always log back in and see the breakdown even if the IR do not have it at their end.

Hi well i rung them and the man said i owed the £444 by jan 2010 which was fine by me and was all i had showing, I then asked if i still owed the £777 by july and he said no as ide paid lots in jan 09...he then said hang on you only owe £222 so i said even better then he said sorry i sound so useless but just running through it and you dont owe us anything'..they owe me £222!! i was so happy as usually my bill is sky high so good all round..i am leaving it with them i think for future use..then again i may put it in premium bonds!!

thanks so much everyone for your help and especailly you Debbie.xx
