Hi
I keep hearing about the need for wearing disposable gloves when changing nappies. Do you all do this? I can't understand why if you are at home or in a place with hand washing facilities you need to wear gloves. Am I missing something here :o .
Thanks

I don't often wear gloves as I find it really awkward to change a nappy with them on. The only time I do is if the baby/child has had any vaccinations or if there is a tummy/sickness bug going round.
I have a nappy changing policy that states what I do & my Ofsted inspector read it, but didn't even comment on it.

It is a requirement in Scotland.
It is seen as good practice by some inspectors in England.
It is your choice at the moment but you must be able to show how you protect against cross contamination, keep babies and yourself clean etc :D

Thank you. I'm going to give it a go, start with changing my own daughters nappies using a glove and see how it goes before I start to get my mindees.

If its just wet, I dont.
If its poo, then I use 1 glove - I find it a bit hard with a glove on each hand!!

When I went on a first aid course told we had to have latex free gloves because of allergic reactions - I guess we would need this for nappies too!
