Wow  I remember at my initial training being toild it was anywhere between £25 and £50, the norm seemed to be about £40 but some where more or less expensive. My doc charged a nominal fee - £5. Makes you wonder how some can justify such extreme charges. I suppose your only option would be to phone around and consider moving docs for it - but thats quite a lot of hastle

Hi thanks I can't move doctors as its the only one in my village, the ones in the next villages are all run by the same company, they obviously charge the max at mine typical! Oh well will have to swallow it up and put it in my set up expensises!

Hi there.
OMG thats terrible, I've just had mine done and was charged £15.00 by my doctors.
What a cheek they only have to fill in a few pages on a form!

That's awful £85  I thought mine was bad at £13.50, I think it's because they know you have GOT to have it done so they charge silly amounts!!!!! x x x

Is there any harm in asking the GP's office what is involved in signing the form (its generally just verifying any info you have put, or disclosing something you perhaps forgot) and then asking if the fee was negotiable.

Unless the GP wants to do a full medical, I can't see how £85 is reasonable.

No harm in trying.

I have known childminders charged over £100 so yours isn't the highest!!

Don't forget to put it through expenses :D

Mine was £21.50. My doctor actually called me to go through it and write her bit in. The call took about 2 mins. Mind you they had it for 2 months and I had to chase it twice before they did it.

They can, & do charge what they like  Afraid you have no choice.
A few years ago the support cm around here were asked to report back any excessive charges- not sure anything came of it.

zoomie is right, see if they will negotiate!! say it would be such a shame for you to have to change doctors and would they accept say...£40 - more in line with other GPs? (still outrageous amount but better than what they are saying now!!)

Mine was £25....and literally a couple of ticks in boxes!! wish we could charge that kind of fees for all the paper work we'll have to do!!

When I asked them to justify charging £74 for mine, they said other drs charge much more....and in fact the charge had gone up to £84 but they would stand by the £74...gosh how kind they were to me:censored:

I was really lucky and only had to pay £8 for mine. Can't see how some doctors can justify charging £80 + all they've got to do is sign the form!

My doc wanted 82.50!!!! Quite were he got the 50p from I don't know... But I kicked up a fuss and got it for 40 in the end.. But that's still over the top.....

The only conclusion I can come to is we are in the wrong jobs!!! Or we don't charge enough for our services.... LOL:laughing:

£50 a minute!! she couldnt believe it either but still had to do it at that.

Hi

I got told mine would be between £10-£26 depending on how much doc had to fill in , only got charged £5.00 in the end bargain.

My friend was told £66-£80 but when she went to collect only charged her £15.00.

You might get lucky...worth querying though...good luck
