Arghhhhhh I really really must learn the art of saying NO.

I'm going on holiday on Friday and I'm not packed, still have shopping to do, house to tidy incase there is viewings whilst I'm away, animals to organise etc etc.

Every Wednesday I only have before and after schoolers so I treat it as my day off (during school hours). Gives me chance to go shopping, see my mum/sister, anything I want. Well today I'm going shopping for the last minute holiday things.

A mum asked me the other day if I'd have her DD today (Wednesday) as I'm not orking Friday this week. I explained it was my last day off before holidays and had a lot to do and needed to go into town. The mother isn't bothered and is happy for her DD to go into town shopping with me (even though it's non-childminding shopping). So I agreed!

Now today has arrived and I have to go shopping on a stinking hot day with a 3 year old that has only just been potty trained. Oh great, why didn't I say NO??? :panic: :panic:

I have got very good at saying no over the last few years.

It has been a very steep learning curve ...

Sometimes I don't even say sorry any more... just no! :D

I know what you mean I always end up saying yes, one of my parents
kept asking for me to have her son 1/2 an hour earlier for a few days
which was a pain but I did it (with no extra money)

then when the extra time finished she presented me with flowers, loads
of bottles of wine and goodies and a thank you card

it has meant a very positive working relationship which I am pleased
I did not say No to.

Well was I cross or what at drop of time this morning.

Parent turned round and said "I hope we don't bump in to you in town". Then she told me her and her mum were off for a day shopping.

All that and she wasn't going to work anyhow, was a good job I was gobsmacked and couldn't answer!

Anyhow I stuck mindee in trainer pants (I hate them really, but made my life eaiser). She was still bone dry when we got home. :clapping: She is such a clever cute ikkle thing!

Bless you. Your mistake was telling her why you couldnt do it- you gave her a foot in the door (so to speak) and she just rammed her boot in :D If it happens again & they will not take no for an answer and you find yourself up-against-the wall......lie......say your having a smear done:laughing:

I agree. I think we often feel obliged to justify our time off. I think we should just say No and leave it at that, no explanations.

Having said that, I always say Yes when I mean No!!!

I have just mastered the art of saying NO! (and meaning it!) I have said NO to one parent three times this week. I feel so empowered (if thats the right word). :) :) The first time was the trickiest. Nearly found myself saying yes:panic:

This mindee is leaving me in August and the requests were taking the :censored: , not so sure I could carry it out with the others though.
