Home visits?

Hi,

Does anyone do home visits? I read somewhere that they are a good idea but not sure where i read it, it could have been a dream, I have had stranger ones lol!

I do my contract signing at parents home as I feel it gives me a better idea of how the child is when they are in their home environment. It works really well for me.

It depends on how you view your personal safety...

I would offer home visits for someone who was disabled but I would take my partner with me and leave details of where I was going with a friend.

You cannot be too careful.

I always deliver a brochure to parents before they caome for their first visit so I know where they live and they know I do, often they open the door when I post the envelope. I will then arrange to visit to sign the policies and permissions and concent forms after the contract is signed.

It helps me to form a picture of the family and seeing the home setting I find quite helpful. Our local Reception class teachers do home visits before the children start at school.
