I was just looking on the CIS website & saw one local cm who is charging £18 for a 10 hour day!! £1.80 an hour :eek:
Our area average is about £3.25 an hour.

She has had various complaints (upheld) about overminding, but still does it. Perhaps she'd be better off putting up her fees & having less children!

If you break down your daily price your hourly rate wouldn't be much. I charge £24 full day from 8-6 so that works out £2.40p hr. What jobs pays :angry:

My daily rate is £30 for a 10 hour day. I would rather not work than work for less than £3 an hour.

I would question why she is so cheap if I went to see her. it would concern me.

If someone is continously breaking the conditions of their registration surely something should be done?

I don't understand why parents send their kids to a cm?? that is obviously taking on too many kids...even if it is cheap the care surely suffers if you are having to spread yourself so thinly because you have to many mindees...

I charge £24 for a full day too. Otherwise its £3 per hour.

I do tend to be full all the time but my ethos has always been to charge a reasonable rate and be full rather than a higher rate and have spaces. At least that way if someone does end their contract for whatever reason the amount i lose as a proportion of my earnings would not be too drastic and financially i would be ok.

Its an insult - the average rate in our area is £3.50 but there are a couple of minders still only charging £2.50ph (yes they are always full!).

I actually just checked the cis page, and someone near to me is charging £2.50 ph, to me that sounds too cheap, i charge £3.50 ph but ive noticed my nearest cm has upped her rate to £4.00 (she is awful but thats another thread!!) and the next one up the road is charging £4.10 with a min of 4hrs per day. Im planning to have a slight increase in January when i do my 6mthly reviews :thumbsup:

well i have been on the local cis and i was charging way to low 3.50p/h most of the one near me are at 4.00p/h

but saying that i really don't do hourly rate unless it one offs

i normally charge 25 hours and under £90 per week or £75 if it sessional time i.e 8til 1 or 1till 6
so that works out at £3.60 or £3
and £140 per week for over 25 hours
so that £2.80

think my be i should charge more but i get enough of an income from those prices so i don't need to

Me too, £5 for 20hrs and under, £4.50 for over 20hrs.

I was charging £3.25ph when I started childminding and no I wasn't in a posh area though it was greater London.

£1.80ph I agree with Debbie I wouldn't get out of bed for that. :eek:
