Hi,
I was just wondering if you have a child during their settling in period do you charge for the time you have them?
Thanks, Helen.

I offer two, two hour sessions and do not charge. If they wont more then I charge. I also ask for the parent to be available during these settling in times just in case something comes up that I need to phone them about.:)

I only ever give the first hour free, after all your time is valuable, if you don't value it how will the parents?

I've done a half hours slot before for free when the parent walks up the road & back, just to get the child used to the parent leaving & yes they will come back :) but any longer i charge for. This week i'm doing two settling in periods that will total 7 hours, i just can not afford to give that amount of free childcare. And i have done all the paperwork too- some childminders only do the contract after the settling in. hth
