Morning all:)

Not sure there to put this so feel free to move to a more suitable place of needed.

Anyway I was just wondering how long we have to keep our food receipts for. Mine go back to November 2008.

Just trying to reduce the paperwork mountain:laughing:

Yes 3 months is right, I was told this on my food hygiene course.

I keep mine in the back of my Safer Food Better Business Pack, and cross reference them with the diary entry page - does that make me a bit sad?

I keep mine with the receipts for the tax return. Then file them away at the end of the tax year.

As said you keep for 3 months for food hygiene, it is so if there is a food poisoning issue your food purchases are traceable, the outbreak may not be your fault, it may be one of your suppliers.

You also need to keep them (for everything) if your income goes over the £30,000pa threshold for 2008-9 tax year. No comments please we all know that there are cms that are above and below this limit.

If not then you only need to keep reciepts for items or groups of items purchased on one reciept, of over £10.
I believe the threshold has been increased to an income of over £69,000pa from the 2009-10 tax year. In which case I would imagine that most of us will no longer need to keep all receipts. (or am I being presumptious? )
