I will have a 2 year old boy and 4 year old girl !

What toys do you think i shoudl get:

My list is: doll, little buggy, cars, lego, playdough, coulour pencils etc I was also thinking of a mini kitchen set like this one:

and dressing up

Do I need to plan for the first few days or can I just see what happens and get to know the children

Good luck with your new mindees. I wouldn't plan for them as they need to settle in first. My daughter and mindees (same ages as yours) like happyland/little people characters, books, musical instruments, home role play toys, craft activities, outdoor play and so much more. Just get more toys as you go along, when i started minding i would buy something new each month to build up my collection.

I think the kitchen set is a great idea, my sons would love it and i'm thinking of getting it myself, it's very reasonable considering how much stuff there is.

I started minding just over a month ago and had a fun, task packed agenda for the first two weeks with lots of activities using family photos. Anyway, 5 weeks on, we are still doing it:blush:
The day to day bits and pieces like meals, snacks, naps, hand washing, nappies, play groups runs, all take up the majority of my days. So, dont panic and think you need to plan an activity for every day - which is what i did:panic:
As for toys, I have a 3yr old, 20 month old and 7 month old (all boys). They all love cars, toy garage, and musical instruments. They are also very attached to 15 or so green cardboard catering boxes that we got last week:laughing:
Have fun

I wouldn't plan too much until you know what they like. Borrow a range from the local resource centre maybe until you find out - bit of smallworld, contstruction, dress up etc. Lots of messy play stuff.

Recommend the kitchen though. I've had one since minding (and before that for my two children) and the hours and hours of role play and socialising it encourages is amazing. Get a two sided one if you can, saves on the arguments (like the ELC one).

Also, sandpit if you have outdoor area.

Good luck.

it sounds like you quite well prepared, let them settle in and when you start taking them to toddler groups see what they like to play with there then you can deciced if you have the right stuff or not.
Mine of that age like elc happy street/land, dolls, dols house, kitchen, buggys, helping me to cook, painting, glueing, any type of messy play really,
by the time we have done the school run, toddler groups, park, took the dog over the woods (which they love which surprised me!) its time for the school run again, then we do an activitie (cus my schooly loves getting messy) then games, tea and home.
I have to admit if we are all getting bored or fedup or ratty then we go for a stroll in the fresh air which really helps.
Good luck and well done on your mindees hope all goes well.
