I was just wondering, do any of you have 'leaving parties' for your mindees that are (obviously) leaving you? I was thinking of having a little tea party or something for a mindee who's leaving me this Friday...just got to wondering what you all do (if anything)?

No, I don't but then the last two children who left hadn't been told by their parents that they weren't coming again so it wouldn't have been appropriate anyway

I do, some of my mindees had been with me for years. Like part of the family. I give a mini photo album of us all, other mindees (with permission) and pets.

Last one to leave, last summer, had been coming for most of 8 years. Will have 2 leaving this summer to go to school. One started when he was 9 months so we will have a little 'do' and invite last years leaver back for tea. :clapping:

for thoes who are leaving for good reason ,,school, moving away, etc i always try to do something ,,

we had a pizza party last time,
also a trip to McD.
andif weather is good a picnic out somewhere nice
ive also dont a party where all parents were invited too as we all got along realy well,
it depends on the family and how i feel (going to miss them or glad they are going lol)

Depends on the mindees but if they have been with me for a while and they are leaving for a good reason (ie school or moving out of area) then I do invite the other childminders they have been socialising with and their mindees and we have a little party - we do it for all their birthdays as well! :D

it depends on the situation!

i have one leaving me in july he is off to senior school and we will bake cakes on his final day then scoff them ... he will get to pick what he wants to do and play with or watch a dvd then I have good luck cards made up from the other children and a token gift (he is having a £10.00 book voucher) fomr us all, i dont go into the big tea party thing as i dont do evening meals so dont want to fill the children up so they then do not eat at home.

my younger mindee is leaving in july but will be with me for 2 wks in sept, he doesnt see the afterschool children and mum would be cross if i gave a gift so he will take his scrapbook learning journey and a good luck card with him.

Most of mine leave when they go to school, so at the end of the summer holidays. One of the long term ones also has a birthday then, so we do a joint birthday/leaving party.

If we're having a spell of good weather I hire a bouncy castle for the day & invite other minders round.

yes, little party with party food or their favorite meal and a little present/photo of them with everyone to take away.

I only had a few after schoolers last time someone left so took them to a playbarn as a treat. After paying for entry and tea in the cafe I spent my whole after school earnings I think - so a bit of an expensive treat!

I don't really do a party but i do usually get a leaving gift for them and give them their diaries etc.

Most of them stay in touch anyway.

I have had some lovely leaving presents from mindees and their family though. People are really nice.:D
