when ofsted rang to make an oppointment she said i would need to kniw about the different registers do i need to know about them in detail or does she mean voluntary eary years and cant rememeber the other one please helpx

She means the Early years register (0-5yr olds), the compulsory children's register (5 to 8 yr olds) and the voluntary register (over 8's). Most childminders are registered for all three. She will be wanting to know which groups of children you intend caring for. There are slightly different requirements for each register, which you can always ask her to explain (keep them talking and it saves you from having to talk IYSWIM). Obviously the main one is the early years register for which the requirements are in the EYFS statutory guidance. The 0 to 5 yr old age group often forms the mainstay of a childminders income.
