I know we can claim for presents we buy our mindees as if we weren't minding them, then we wouldn't be buying them presents in the first place! But, I have been invited to a mums surprise birthday party tomorrow and to basically take her son home with me at around 9pm so she can let her hair down. I have bought her a pressie obviously, but was wondering if I can claim that as an expense as if I wasn't her childminder,I wouldn't have been invited and be picking her son up!

Bit cheeky, but gotta ask!

I always buy moms/dads presents for their birthdays etc and ALWAYS put the cost through my books. As you say if we weren't minding the children we probably wouldn't even know the parents.

Enjoy the party
