Yes this needs to be part of your Safeguarding policy.

Also think about what would happen if a child made an allegation against a member of your family / your child as well as yourself... would you be able to support them? Who would you tell? How would you investigate it? Who would you go to for help? Would you be able to take them back afterwards?

Put contact details on the policy - Ofsted, Local Safeguarding Children Board, local Social Care, Police :D

Doesn't this also fit into the ream of your complaints policy too ?

Well your complaints policy really just encourages all and sundry to make a complaint against you.

A safeguarding issue would be a complaint, yes of course, but it's generally accepted to be dealt with under safeguarding.

It's about putting a procedure in place so if a safeguarding complaint is made, you can follow your list and know exactly who to call, what to say, where to go for help etc.

We were told on our DHC that we should have a seperate policy for allegations against a childminder with all the info Sarah mentioned in it.
