Colouring Pasta?

I bought a couple of bags of pasta to do pictures with and i'm wondering if anyone has had success in changing the colour of them?

would it be food colouring and soaking them or a different way.....obviously dont want to cook them as they need to be uncooked/hard.

I dyed some pasta ftubes for making necklaces.

Just laid the pasta on a tray and put some food colouring on, no water and then moved until covered.

Only problem was when we used it to make necklaces it did get brittle and some broke.:(

We did manage to make the necklaces in the end.:)
