I have just got back from the pet shop and i have bought 2 male guinea pigs, i was going to wait until monday to give them names but my little boy has already names them.
We are calling them Jake and Milo (like the tweenies).
They are so cute a bit scared at the moment but they have got to settle in a bit.

Ahh Guinea pigs are so cute. I wish I had bought one for my kiddies, instead I got a hamster and all it does is sleep and bite. Ouch!

Guinea pig are so..... sweet, I used to breed them years ago.
I was no good at being a breeder it upset me everytime one was sold.
You do get attached, they squeak and talk to each other.
Are the boys that you have got brothers?
Sometimes two males will fight. Not always it depends if they are used to each other.
Any help you want just let me know, only too pleased.

i have guinea pigs the wigs as we call them they are very tame and lovely

ours like to sit on our knee under an old tea towel and they go to sleep

you need to hold them lots and lots and they will become friendlier if they nibble it doesnt really hurt

best pets weve ever had need cleaning out every 2 - 3 days or they smell mine have just been out in the garden eating the grass and squeeking at the dog ours are called rascal, squirt(baby) and was spud murphy but now maria have them checked to see if they are boys or youll have to rename one like we did!!!!!!!!!!

Awww! Cute!

When the vet picks up dd's hamster, he sort of grabs it by the scruff of the neck taking lots of skin... but I am sure there are others on here with more knowledge than me! :D

you put your hand under their tummy and put some fingers under their front legs and catch their bums with the other hand, turn them round and put them on your chest and stroke from head down, i would pick them up today so they get used to you

i hated wigs until we had them and they wont shoot off like hamsters their usually quite good

awww Bev, they are so sweet. I had two gp's like these many moons ago and the sandy one was called arthur and the brown one basil. Hope they soon settle in. As for picking them up, by the scruff is ok, but tricky if you are not too confident, also you don't wasnt lo's copying you and hurting them. Scoop them up with one hand under their belly and then under their bum , as said before, cradle them on to your chest and sit down on the floor so if they jump they don't break anything! Gp's leg break easily. Handle little and often and make sure they associate with something nice like apple or cabbage. Also remember gp's need dark greens as they can't make their own.... oh ****** having senior moment  , can't think what, but know it's important, not too much or they get runs but little bit everyday. Good luck let us know what the children think xx
