Just wondering if you use separate towels for all your mindees after they've washed their hands?

You should have seperate towels and flannels for each mindee if you use them, to stop any cross infection:)
Paper towels might be a good idea if your worried, expensive tho:(

I use flannels for them to dry their hands on and they put them in the bin (pedal bin but for flannels only) once they are used once.

My mindees each have a different coloured towel on a seperate hook which has their photo above it.

Even J who is 2 knows which colour belongs to which towel without looking at the photos as he enjoys getting the clean towels out of the drawer each morning to hang up.

I understand the need for separate towels, but why would you need towels AND flannels?

Also, why bin them after only one use? This would amount to an incredible amount of washing...i do about 2 loads daily as it is!

I was thinking of using only flannels instead of towels as we don't have a large bathroom and can't see how i would be able to have so many separate towels in there.

i have a pile of plain white face cloths that mindees use once to hand dry they then go straight in the washer.

once mindees have gone they go on a boil wash to make sure they are clean

Ofsted were very happy with this

I use kitchen towel torn into separate section and put it in a basket in the bathroom. saves washing and usually by sainsburys own brand which is really cheap. i put the costs of the kitchen roll down in expenses.

What I do may not be right but I have animal hooks http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300293515032 (to help if they don't yet recognise name) with laminated name cards above (which are blue tacked to the wall and changeable) and then I have stitched a piece of elastic into a load of face cloths and then I hang up however many I need.

I only have before and after schoolers and each individual child's towel (which only gets used by them) gets washed at the end of the week. If I had a full timer I could change it everyday - I got the face cloths 3 for a £1 for Wilkinsons.

I use seperate guest size towels (bigger than flannels but smaller than hand towels) which is colour coded so each child knows which one is their's. I change them at the end of each day.

I just ordered a set of these.....think they are fab thanks

I use these from Ikea.

http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/40054538

They are basically big flannels and they have different coloured loops on the corner. There are 2 of each colour so the kids have one as a flannel and one as a towel.

These are what I use too on hooks in the bathroom however I don't have a colour per child. They use it once and put it in a bin to be washed. I only need to was every 3 days at the moment.

I don't use separate towels for my school aged children, just the standard one in the bathroom. I have done a "risk assessment" for it though which basically states "that they have spent all day with 400 other children and if they were going to get cross infections they would have done so long before arriving at my house - risk negligible"

However, my 2 year old has a separate towel because she wants one :)

I also use a different coloured guest towel for each
of the mindees.
They have a matching face cloth and choose from a
variety of colours at the beginning of each week.
I wash them at the weekend for P/T or every other day
for F/T :)

Me too! I have bought the ones from Ikea, quite cheap for a nice big pack. The lo's dry their hands, pop them in the little pedal bin next to the basin and I wash them at the end of the day (or when I have a load), tumble dry and ready for next day!!!

Me too, in fact the whole family use them so there are no wet towels hanging about and DH's 'farmers' hands (which don't come totally clean on one wash) don't make towels dirty.

This is what i do with all my under 5yrs..... and the before and after schoolers use a single towel which is changed daily......however I am now considering using kitchen roll for this group..........I had always said that paper towels was too expensive....I can't believe it has never ocurred to me to use kitchen roll:blush:   How silly am I??
