We got news last night that my sil has bowel cancer, she is only 43. About 2 hours after they told her she was in surgery and hopefully they got it all, they are just waiting to get results back from the lab. She has been in and out of hospital for the last 2 weeks as she was doubled over in pain and couldn't keep anything down.

Your prayers would be very much appreciated

Thanks xx

Thinking of your sil and hoping everything will be ok.

My uncle had bowel cancer in 2000 in (he was in his late 50's) and he is fine, he has to have check ups every now and again but he has been clear for years now.

Best of luck and thinking of you all xx

Thank you so much girls...i'm sat here in tears reading all your lovely messages. DH is up visiting her just now (we didn't want to bring the kids up as she is quite tired after surgery) so I should have more news later. She is the rock of this family and I hate to see her and her family going through this.

Thank you once again it really means a lot

My thoughts are with you. My mum (72) ws diagnosed with bowel cancer 2 1/2 years ago. She had an op to remove part of her bowl and (touch wood) has been fine since. Has to go for regular check ups, but no problems.

Hope your sil makes a full and speedy recovery!

My mum has just had the all clear (from this type of cancer too).

The nurses/doctors said if you have cancer the bowel is the best place to have it.

Well her operation went well and they successfully removed the tumor and the surgeon is quite confident that she will make a full recovery, no talk about chemo or radiation so that's a good sign. She is still very weak and tired but they are hoping to send her home by the end of this week and then bring her back in to remove the colostomy bag in about 2-3 weeks time.

Thank you so much for all your thoughts and prayers they are very much appreciated
