Hi for my own dd I had an activity station & she also had a walker. We didn't use the walker much tbh. But for my mindee, i have never used either as after speaking to her mum, she said she didn't want her in them. She is a doctor & has had lots of children with problems with hips etc & she says theres a link with babies in these & the hip problems.

I guess its down to preference & obviously limiting the amount of time spent in them & also making sure they are at the right height etc.

I don't use them or like them for safety reasons and because they seat the baby in an unnatural position which is not good for their physical development. The movements they use to scoot along are not walking movements. It is a personal choice but I don't like them. Canada has banned them since 2007.

Or do you mean the push along type baby walker, where the child can pull themselves up and then push it along slowly.

If so Boots used to do some good ones.

At the moment the babies sit on a blanket on the floor with the toys around them, the baby nest behind incase they fall back and cushions at the sides of them incase they should fall. I have a highchair but the babies dont like sitting in it unless im shovelling food in :)
Just thought i could have something else to amuse them with, i know they wont be still for long as one can allready shuffle across the floor.

Any other ideas to keep them amused?

How about a door bouncer or one of the static 'sit-in' entertainers? When I work in the Creche the little ones love that because they can see everything going on. You just have to limit their time in there to half an hour maximum.

It's not advisable to use baby walkers anymore.

I use the leapfrog activity station & a jumperoo...both on mothercare website if you want to have a look...but you can get them much cheaper second hand on ebay.

The local Health Visitor was giving this out at the Family Centre a few months ago.

There is a power point presentation to train HV & professionals working with families if anyone is interested - you will need powerpoint/ powerpoint reader to view.
