Hi does anyone cut their grass while the children are around? or is it a big NO NO? I wouldn't obviously do it with a baby crawling around! but if ive got two 3 year olds sat on chairs do you think it would be ok?::idea:

personally I wouldnt do it.

mine gets done at wkends only, I dont even let my hubby cut the grass when I'm working as it means trapping the children inside for a while.

I wouldn't as its so noisy you can't possibly be listening to the children as well.

When both my husband and i are minding together he used to occasionally cut the grass while i was indoors with the kids. I wouldn't do it on my own tho with kids around, would be too scared that i would get distracted by them and run the wire over or worse still one of them.

We now have artificial grass so the worry is a thing of the past, and one less job to do!

Ofsted would ask you how cutting the grass was meeting the needs of the children...

I would be able to find them if the grass was shorter

I like it!

Still a definite no no for me though.

Too dangerous.

Never do this one stone thrown up could blind a child and some children have allergic reactions to newly cut grass (My husband has a violent reaction to flymo cut grass He's fine with a rotary mower)

I certainly wouldn't do it while there were children about.

I'd be doing it this afternoon rather than posting on here

I wouldn't unless they were all in bed - still dangerous same as ironing. You just can't trust them not to touch. What if you had to leave it and they played with the wire?

Naw - I never cut the grass anyway - That is DH's job and probably the only one he does without being nagged to do it. He does do it when they are here but only if they are indoors. They like watching him through the patio doors - I have to say I used to enjoy playing with the cut grass when I was young while my parents cut the grass but DH doesn't even let our two do that - too much mess!!!! so I'm afraid offering that experience is their parents responsibility. Yesterday he did it at 5.30 while two mindees were having tea. One had just arrived and one was finishing at 6.00. DH is way more protective of children than I am and hates them playing with anything messy or climbing on toys meant to be climbed on etc.

I have to say I too consider this to be in the same bracket as ironing. I have someone who comes in to do the ironing while mindees are here but they are never in the same room as her while the ironing board is out - I would have nightmares about it.:panic: :panic:
