Had a phone call yesturday about a guy wanting a childminder, nothing wring in that? but the guy said he lives in Windermere in a hotel about 27 miles away from me, and asked if i had any places i said one place for a under 5, i'll send you a chueqe for £500 when i have your address. Then i started thinking why couldn't he find anyone nearer? i why would he want to give me £500 for first payment. It may of been a genuien guy but my mind said no, so i said i've made a Mistake and i'm full sorry.

Sounds like one of those scams (where the cheque bounces/non existant child/you lose out) to me. Keep well away:panic:

It is a scam. I also fell for it. My chap was in America - even spoke to him on the phone - he sent me a photo of his son. I stupidly sent him a photo of me and the kids so his child could get to know us before they flew over - they sent a cheque, then there start date was delayed etc etc. I didn't lose any money in the sense that i didnt send any back, however i didnt fill my place for 3 wks waiting for him to come (it seemed sooo real at the time). Stay well away - there are quite a few around. Can you believe it they do it with pedigree cats. I was looking for Burmese kittens - offered 3 abysinnians to re house - until they said they would fly them to me from scotland (i had offered to drive there to pick them up). They then said that someone would be in touch with regards to the courier costs. I clicked at that point, but thought it sick, as i had just lost my cats and still grieving.
