In german this specific desert is called Pudding (like the english word for desert itself)
It is quite simple to make and I haven' met many kids yet that don't like it.

Here is what you need
500 ml milk (semi or whole)
40 grams of cournflour
3 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp cocoa powder

You mix the cournflour with 8 tbsp of the milk until the cournflour is completely dissolved.
In the meantime you heat the milk with the sugar and the cocoa powder.

once the milk has come to the boil you turn down the hear and whisk in the cournflour milk. Keep whisking for a few seconds until it starts to get thicker
Once it is about the consistency of whipped double cream (without the peaks) you take it off the heat and fill it into ramekins (this qty makes 4 little individual ramekins)
Rinse out the ramekins with cold water before you start as this will make the pudding come out easily once it has set.

let it cool then put it in the fridge for at least 1 hour

then you can tip it out on a plate.....

The milk can be flavoured with other flavours as well.. not just cocoa powder...I made them vanilla flavoured, caramel flavoured...even caffe latte for grown ups...the possibilites are nearly endless!

I will go make a picture of one I made earlier so you get a better idea of it.

Ooh yum - I could go for some of that. Kind of like a set custard sort of thing (but without the eggs, which would be good for kids with an allergy to them.)
