It is "Introduction to childminding practise"

Its the course all childminders have to take in order to get registered. You have to do a multiple choice exam at the end.

Are you thinking of registering??

It is also the first unit of the DHC (Diploma in Homebased Childcare).

You have to complete it within a year of becoming registered.

I thought that was within 6 months of registration?

I had to do mine before being registered.

Prob different here in Wales than everywhere else!

The ICP was only introduced after some minders registered so some people may not have done it.

It may be worth contacting your local CIS and asking to go on the course so you have your ICP certificate.

I think these courses are different all over the country. I had no exams to take with mine but a childminder I know who lives in the next town to me had to take a exam at the end of hers?

We both had to complete the course before we were registered.

Hi

When I completed my course in June 07 I was told that that was the last one where they expected you to do the multi-choice exam.

Is this the case everywhere or just in cheshire?

We were told at the briefing session with CSSIW that the ICP had to be completed before you even hand in your application forms. I had already done it so I got to skip, although they did debate about putting me on it again  . I have done them all and hold a CCP so they decided against it in the end.

CSSIW/OFSTED differences again.
