i usually just take their 1st weeks fees then their place is booked. Parents just dont understand why we do this do they. they expect us to risk them coming or not and us loosing an income.

I have never taken a deposit to keep once they start

I only take non refundable deposits to hold a space and that comes off of the first months fees.

I am not out of pocket as I get paid a month in advance.

Next time you meet a potential client I'd make a list of the things you Definately need to cover. I DIDN'T do this when I met one mum and hence after she'd gone there were loads of things I wished I'd have clarified :o

I'm going to take a weeks fees as a deposit refundable on their first week with me, however so far I haven't needed too as they have literally come to me on the last minute and then needed a start date within a week so never felt it necessary.
