A friend of mine is thinking of becoming a childminder she is a nanny and is considering making her garage into a playroom, its not attached to the house though its in the garden. Does anyone know how Ofsted would react to this?

I had friends who converted a double garage.

They had everything in there including a mini kitchenette and phone.

They used it instead of their house and it was very successful.

sounds great for her, didn't the council object or did they just say their children played there too.

I'm not sure tbh... her children were older.

hi, I think there might be an issue with leaving children unattended and out of earshot. On a practical level - every time she needs to answer door/phone, get juice, get snack, put little one to sleep, wash hands etc etc etc she would need to leave little ones or take them all along. It would be fine I guess as another play area for kids to use but not to base her childminding out of , if that makes sense. Hope this gives some thoughts to start with.

Though I guess if she had a good quality monitor in the garage and with the listening device in the house it would combat the being able to listen to them bit ?
