What a lovely day we had today!! Out to soft play in morning and a lovely visit from the care commission this afternoon. She was lovely and the kids were fantastic, she was delighted with everything she saw and said she got really good feedback from the parents and she is recommending me for 6s in all areas:clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

Don't know for certain yet as all 6s have to be double checked by da bosses.

Thank you all so much for the advice and support on here, couldn't have done it without you:D

Congratulations!!! I have been waiting on the C.C now for 6 months - thats when they wrote saying my inspection was imminent! Did you get advance notice? I am on tenterhooks everytime there is a knock at the door or a car parks outside the house. Really well done - hope you are relaxing with a large glass of wine & a bar of chocolate.:clapping: :clapping:

A large glass of wine and cheesecake:D

I got my letter on Christmas eve, had a cancelled inspection 3 weeks ago and then got a call last week to say it would be today. Check who your CCO is some of them announce visits and some don't - they'd never get me in if they came unannounced.

Hope you hear soon, I thought all this years inspections were to be done by 31st March, maybe give CC a phone and check.

Letter did say that inspections in our area were to be unannounced but I got a phone call to say mine would be within two weeks and that was before Xmas! I am never in - something on every morning with the mindees so a phone call would be helpful. I have been ready and waiting for the months now just in case - its the waiting I hate as I just want it over and done with. One of the girls had her visit and CCO only stayed for 20mins whereas another CCO stayed for 2 and a half hrs with a different Childminder! Oooh am sorry to rant on - enjoy your cheesecake and once again well done!

Can I ask...

I was told by a fellow local minder that they were told by their CCI that the only way you can get a 6 in say Child Protection areas is to have had to implement the procedures, is that true? Seems rather harsh if so, as would mean a child was in need of protection just so we could get a 6??

I've heard this from a few sources too, but I also know of other cm's who have got 6's and haven't implemented any child protection procedures.

I haven't, but have a full folder dedicated to child protection issues and a very full policy. I have also sourced materials from different agencies etc. However I still have to wait and see if supervisor agrees that I can get 6's.
