Cooking for the masses

I might be getting some extra after schoolers in April.

Do any of you have some good ideas of easy light meals that can be prepared earlier in day or recipes to feed lots of hungry kids (most have school lunch so it doesnt need to be a big meal)

anything that goes in a slow cooker

Noodles mixed with meat and sweetcorn, garlic or mild spices for flavour

Tuna, penne pasta and sweetcorn mixed together with mayonnaise

Paella - long grain rice cooked in chicken stock add paprika, garlic, fried onions, peas and mixed seafood or chicken

Shepherd's pie

Mild chicken and potato curry - fry onions and chicken add 1/2tbsp curry paste, chicken stock and par boiled diced potatoes - leave to simmer till potatoes cooked and sauce thickened

Spaghetti and meatballs

These are a few of my favs for when I'm in a rush :thumbsup:

Jacket potatoes as they can be put in the oven a few hours before. It is quite easy to suit different tastes with the fillings if necessary - tuna mayo, homemade coleslaw, cheese, beans, chilli, etc.

I make lots the night before and keep it for the next day to be reheated unless it is pasta which I cook fresh

Anything on toast or toasted sandwiches

Pizza

My after-schoolers like to make their own sandwiches or pitta breads

Some great idea's here, I'm going to pinch a few:thumbsup: home-made burgers pasta or anything done in the slow cooker is the kinda thing I'd be feeding them

When i have a hoard to feed i usually do savoury mince with Mash or a Lasagne

I usually do a bolognaise or similar pasta dish as I find it easier to go further.
