i'm still pre reg, and have no childcare qualifications except the basics, first aid etc

i keep seeing NVQ level 3 needed or advised, orry to sound thick but what about level one and two???

Can i do this from home? and can i start now or do i need to wait till reg comes through?

I have plenty of other qualitions and was considering doing a degree in childcare? should i do the nvq first, as its quicker?

Thanks in advance
Kerri

You are managment - ie you run your own business therefore you will go straight in and do a level 3. Also you Unit 1 DHC is the first unit in the full DHC. DHC is a level 3.

What are you other qualifications - are they in childcare. The criteria for the uni where I do my degree stated that you had to have a level 3 in childcare and at least two years experience. Not sure if thats blanket criteria across the country.

You may be able to get funding for either the DHC or NVQ through the NCMA/Local Authority. It looks like I am being funded for NVQ3 through the next-door county, I live on the border & can access their training as well as my county's:) .

The DHC is a specialist childminding level 3 qualification, The NVQ3 is more portable and you would find it easier if you decided to work in a nursery/school at a later date:)
