So i have to ring in a week to go for my pre registration but this time i have my head on my shoulders and i understand a bit more. :)
Hope you all been well, not had a good start of the year but now things are looking up for me:clapping:

No i dont think you can beat childminding. But this time i am going to be 100% commited by getting out there meeting over childminders instead of secluding myself with the world as it dont work.

My experience in the nursery was not to my expectations:mad:

I did that but my Ofsted inspector at pre-reg was happy with the ICP (now the DHC1) certificate I already had so did not have to resit the course - just the 1st aid as it was out of date.

Good luck

Good to haer! I'm feeling a little disheartened with minding at the moment, but as they say the grass isn't always greener. Thanks for giving me something else to think about:)

Glad to assist Ali.I thought it would be better, but there is nothing like being your own boss, doing what you want to do with the children instead of answering to someone else. I know its alot harder for nursery as they have alot more children to attend to, but in a nursery they can not give the children the attention that childminders can. You cannot just take them to the park or take them out to the shops ect if you catch my drift and being a childminder before you may not like the way nurserys operate.:)

My advice to Childminders is if you feeling abit disheartened about it maybe take time out but dont give in your registration! Trust me once you have had a break you will miss it and will want to come back:) I did cleaning and i was very miserable i came home crying every night because i knew i didnt want to be there. I tried the nursery it was not what i expected at all!! I now know where i want to be a Childminder. I will work very hard to get my registration back from here on i will go on courses, i will mix with other childminders.Ill do anything to get my registration back!:clapping: :clapping:

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience in a Nuresry .. There are some bad ones out there which really makes you wonder why Inspectors dont do something about it .... I work in a nursery and love it .. but then we have a great team and a very low turn over of staff ... Normal reason for staff leaving is maternity !

Hope coming back to Childminding is all you want it to be :) I too am returning to it after 6 years and cant wait for the children to arrive :)

Welcome back. I used to do supply work in nurseries, and schools (qualified ta), loved the school's, HATED the nurseries, apart from 1! The 1 i didn't hate, i never got left with the children ALONE, and the staff didn't stand around all day gossiping leaving the supply staff to play with and amuse the children. Among other things.
I agree with chanelle that there probably are some really great ones out there. Shame they weren't where i worked.

I worked in nurseries for 12 years and left for a job teaching nvq L2/3 (which i loved). When i was made redundant from that job is when i started minding to be at home with my daughter who was then only 6mths. I'd never go back to working in a nursery especially full time.
