I am a new child minder and just wondered what temperature I should keep the room that I look after my minded children?

I have been on a few web sites and one said the perfect temperature is 18, and that you should keep the room between 16 - 20 degrees? What do other child minders do! Please could I have some ideas. Thanks Emma

I asked my early years advisor about this when she came round to see me the other day to prepare me for my pre-reg inspection. She said as long as the room is a comfortable temperature then it will be o.k for Ofsted. Bit ambiguous I know, but she said she was not aware of any specific guideline thats states what the temp should be. Am sure someone will be along shortly who knows if this is correct ir not but thought I'd let you know what I have been told.

I thought it was 16 for adults (workplaces) and 18 for children, could be wrong though.

I have a nursery thermometer on the wall at its usually at 18

18 to me feels a little cool..

I try and keep living room between 19 and 20, although at minute its 22
sign df is home!!

although my 11 year old mindee complains that its cold all the time, I know its not because of the room temp!

I got the below temps from a health and safety at work course I did

14 for manual workers

16 for adults

18 for children

21 for sleeping babies / elderly and sen settings

I have mine at 20 and would just turn up to 21 if the kids were alseep.

My thermostat is set at 20 and we are quite comfortable at that. I feel 18 is a bit low if you have littlies, but for bigger children they get warm by running around so much. When I was a midwife the advice for newborns was - If you're comfortable in a t-shirt baby will be fine in a few light covers, no necessary temperature.
