keeping insurance certificates

i have just got my new mm certificate through today does anyone else keep there old ones as i have them all from years ago

Oh yes you must keep them!

It will prove you were insured in 16 years time when some 18 year old decides to sue you for something they remember happening when they were 2 :rolleyes:

I have not kept any of my old ones but I have the receipts from NCMA stored with my old accounts so can prove I paid insurance. Never thought about proving it I thought they (the insurance company) would have to keep all their old records

OOOh I didn't we had to keep those too? I think mine is just in the back of the frame when i got new one, if not I threw it :blush: :panic: at least I know for the future!

I have all mine dating back 18 years. As Sarah says this is your evidence that you had insurance, if someone comes along after 16 years or so and makes a claim against you then it would be extremely useful if you had the old certificates. NCMA often change who they place the insurance with and MM I would think do the same.

Yes Sarah is right. You should keep them for 21years and 3 months so children can sue you when they become an adult.

This has been brought up before but out of interest has this acctually ever happened to a Childminder?
