Does anyone know the ratio for the under 1's in nurseries?

My enquiry came today and had originally looked at nurseries only 2 round here both with waiting lists so now she is seeing childminders. Its another one of those where they havent even asked work about going back part time yet :angry:

I just got me wondering what the ratio was in a nursery?

She also asked what I would do with her baby in the day, play? erm yes! and observe. I explained about going out, toddler groups, school runs, meals, etc

The ratio in nurseries used to be 1 nursery nurse to 3 children. Im fairly sure it still is.

The ratio is a nursery is

Under 2's 1:3
2 to 3's 1:4
Over 3's 1:8

Yes it is. I did some supply work in nurseries and sometimes it was just me and the nursery nurse in their with up2 5 or 6 kids at a time. (Im not qualified as a nn) But kept getting left with kids on my own. :eek: Once had 4!!

yep and if there is a qualified teacher it is 1:13

So what about Early Years Units? (nursery and reception class combined)
The unit at our school has 50 plus kids in it ranging from rising 4s to 5yrs?
It has a qualified teacher, a Nursery Nurse, And other staff I know that have a qualification of some kind, the odd student and parent helpers in therefor an hour or two.
