Following my Ofsted inspection, the report came back advising that I need to further develop resources and activities with which to promote children's awareness of cultural diversity.

What does this mean? I have got a multicultural world atlas poster on the wall and a Welcome sign in different languages, but don't know what else to do. I have multicultural books as well (which the inspector knew about). Do any of you display posters?

Any ideas welcomed.

Do you celebrate different festivals? Do you have a varied menu/serve different cultural meals to co-incide with festivals etc ie Chine - Chinese new year...do you have toys/books etc that show different skin tones & diabilities...When doing crafts do you provide different coloured paper/pencils to show different skin tones..... & so on....:)

I have happy land people of various ethnic origins and dolls to play with which have diferent skin tones and costumes. I also look after two polish children and we have had fun identifying common words and translating them into polish on the net.
Have downloaded British sign language posters to laminate too.
You can go on for ever but keep your eyes out for anything not english or British and you can't go wrong - we cook foreign foods too which is fun and have a blind tasting!
