My friend and I both have a 5 yr old and a 2 yr old.

Today we are 'swapping children' so she is taking the older ones to the cinema and i am taking the littlies to a tumble tots. (think she got the better deal!)

However now i have started registering and i know all the 'rules' , i'm wondering if this is ok? It will be longer than 2 hrs and i am i suppose in reward as my own child is being taken care of by her.

what do you think?

I think you are just friends swapping kids.

Have a great day with the little ones.

No you are fine. As fizzy says, you are just friends taking the kids out for the day

Oh gosh! Don't worry about that! You're hardly going to be hauled up in front of a judge and sentenced to 5 years imprisonment!

It's just a one-off thing!

I look after my friends littlies sometimes and they look after my son at some point, not in return but they still do it, it really doesn't matter. It's not a regular arrangement.

It's fine - isn't it strange the things we worry about when we start thinking too hard! I do exactly the same!

Have fun at Tumble Tots!

just a note ...

in the future as you are working with mindees it will still be fine to swap your own children but keep your ages in consideration so you do not go over your allowed under 5's etc.

I swap children with another childminder ... only our own not those we mind for and its great gives our own children a break from routine too.

We've had a great day!

My 2 little ones have had a mad morning dashing about and burning up loads of energy- they are both now fast asleep! (advantage to having younger ones)

My eldest is still out with friend having pizza!

I'm getting to eat my lunch in peace right now (and a quick snoop on here;) )

I'm definatly going to suggest that we do it more often. My ds1 got to spend an afternoon without everything having to revolve around his little brother (naps/tantrums/choice of activity) and ds2 had a little playmate so we could spend longer at the tuble tots without my 5yr old getting bored!

Highly recommended! (but i bet most of you do it anyway!!!)
