I have no idea where to get the bcatterpillars from other than the butterfly center in Stratford which is too far to travel.

I'm in Hertfordshire has anyone got any ideas where I could go ?

brilliant I knew someone would help ... time to get my plan into action and satisfy my daughters request at the same time as providing a wicked activity involving all of the children and oh yeah spending more money.

My DS is always bringing caterpillars home to grow and hatch - with a good success rate too !!

We look them up to see what they need and overwinter the coccoons if necessary.

Elephant hawk moths caterpillars are pretty impressive :D

Hatched a red admiral last year, sycamore moths, cabbage white and cinnabar moths too.

Released into the garden. :clapping:

it says that you get 5 free caterpillars with the kit, sounds interesting, i wonder how hard it is to keep them (im not good at keeping anything live, apart from children of course!!)

We done these last year, i got a kit of ebay with the 5 free and all of them hatched, they were beautiful to watch and how quick the caterpillers grow is amazing, take a photo they day you get them and every day from then and you can see them change, mind it was quite sad when it came to let them go :(

Be careful if you get them too early as they dont last long in the cold
