Had to share this because it was sooo funny and reminded me why I do this job.

My son [nearly 11] has been stressing out about valentines this week, getting really intense about it:laughing: We've always been really open with him,but it's kinda made him think he knows it all now:laughing:

Any way,he's got 3 valentines which I'm really pleased about because he's also been saying he'll never get a girlfriend 'cos he's overweight.

Comes out of school yesterday in a foul mood, not speaking and generally being a pain.

Nine year old mindee asks him what's the matter?

He replies: [in a I'm sooo grown up tone] 'oh it's nothing, just puberty'

Mindee says 'what's pooberty'?

He replies: 'oh it's when you grow up and start thinking about girls and it makes you feel awful and moody'

Mindee says:'Well I'm not going to do that then'

He replies: you don't have a choice,it happens to all children,It's like when your brother has a ressurection[mindees mistaken word for you know what]

Mindee says: Well I'm just not going to do pooberty,THEY CAN'T MAKE ME!!!!

I'm still laughing now.

Oh my goodness, this whole puberty thing has walloped him over the head with a mallet.

I had no idea and although we have always been open and honest with him,I just wasn't prepared:laughing:

He turned from being a beautiful, caring polite boy into a monster!!! Almost over night too. It's like he's morphed into a completely different child:laughing:

All I can say is: those with children in yr 5,be ready.

Puberty is coming!!!

The kids here had one of those discussions during afternoon snack yesterday. L (year 6) said they should have had the puberty talk that day but it had been put off until today for some reason. She was glad because in her words 'you have to look at mucky pictures'. Another girl (H, year 5)asked if boys & girls had the talk together. L said no 'because boys don't need to know about girls bits down below'. H asked if L knew what the boys talk was about. At this point DS (yr7, age 12) comes in from school and spouts out 'there were condoms all over our english class today because it was someone's 16th birthday and they can have sex now'
I'm stood there thinking it's not surprising that kids are 'experimenting' earlier, they know all the facts about what to do way way earlier than what we did. I don't think I knew what a condom was until I was about 15.
