If you have been paying stamp you are entitled to 9 months maternity allowance which is currently £117 a week.

Jemma if you take a look on the job centre website, theres a section on the different benifits & what you need to have done to be eligable. They take into account weeks worked & NI contributions in a certain time frame.

hi, when DD was born ( almost 4 yrs ago gulp! ) i spoke to job centre plus, who sent me a huge form ... i paniced about having to send of records of payment etc, but when i rang them, because i had been paying the voluntary contribution towards my NI each month, they didn't need any proof if income and i got the full allowance for the full length of time. all i had to do was tell them when i stoppping work, and when i was returning!

xxx

When I claimed - 10months ago, I was told I had to send in proof of earnings. I did tell them that I only had bank statements showing money going in, I was told this was fine, but then they sent it back saying they needed wage slips even though they knew I was a Childminder and they insisted I needed wage slips. And I was paying class 2 NI.

In the end it turned out I was nannying at some point in the test period so could send in the payslips - but they must have got it wrong because If I wasnt nannying then I dont know what would have happened.
