It's all somewhere in my head and my paperwork but I have about 1/2 hour before my mindee wakes up and I need to post DHC off ASAP (due in on Friday....) If you think a child is being abused, who do you go to?

you follow your local safeguarding procedures (if you ring them the you should get a booklet/leaflet)

You document where necessary

you speak to social services duty team

Call you local safeguarding children line or duty social worker (or are they the same thing now). Failing that call your DO who should tell you what to do next.

I also want to add that all the duty social workers that I've ever talk to have been really nice and really helpful and not scary like most people think.

Is this just a general question or have you got a particlar concern.

If no concern then go through your safeguarding pack - and you are now required to do training on the subject so ring your CIS and see if you can get on a course.

If you have a concern why don't you run it by us and someone on here may have had a similar experience or may be able to give you some more specific advice.

Also,if you speak to social services about a particular child, you need to inform ofsted that you've done it.

Think I mentioned to someone else before; never take 'no' for an answer from social services!

I would also keep detailed notes about the child and dates ,times, and who you spoke to in social services.

No, no worries - it's just a question for coursework and I'm under major time constraints (ie disorganised.....)
