Salt dough: 2 cups plain flour, 1 cup salt, 1 cup water, Mix into a dough and leave for 20mins, then roll out to about 1cm thick, i used cookie cutter to get shapes.( thats a good idea for shapes and numbers theme) Cook for 30mins at 50c and then put up to 100c for about 4hrs...... hope this helps :)

Think I will be making one of these with my mindee this week for Mum.

I have different size heart cokkie cutters already so thats perfect. And I have loads of ribbon I bought for 10p in the Wilkinsons after Xmas sale.

Thank you!!

They look really fab.

i have seen somewhere you can do the same with bread - obviously not as good as salt dough - cut the shapes out of bread - place a hole for threading ribbon later - then leave to dry out by a radiator (obviously keep out of childrens reach - they will eat anything)!!!

When dry you can paint them.

Fab idea! I used my heart cutter with bread last week, waited until had gone hard, buttered and then pressed into bird seed, threaded with string and the wee ones hung outside for the birds! They loved it!:clapping:

These are really lovely!

I made salt dough last week & its just about dry ready for the children to paint this week. We didn't (or should I say I didn't) put the hole in ready for the ribbon, doh! We made individual hearts that we will paint & then put in little gift boxes for their parents.

I have left mine to air dry, it takes a while but they have dried, just about

Thanks for sharing your idea x
