I think you've got more than enough.

I've been told that the Bromley policies are laughed at by other councils!

this is the list of policies I have written. Inspector commented on how busy I must have been so I take that as a compliment - I hope it was one!!!

Accident procedures
Behavioural Management
Complaints
Equal Opps
Medicine
Safeguarding Children
Sickness
Collection of children
Fire Safety
House Rules
Nutrition and meals
Procedure of allegations of abuse against CM
Settling in Policy
Special Needs

I also created permission forms for
general parental consent (for say outings etc)
application of sun cream
administering prescription medicine
Emergency First Aid Treatment

Sounds like a lot (which I suppose it is and a lot of late nights when into typing these up) but my theory is although not all these are needed I worry if I am explaining stuff to potential new clients I might miss something. If I have most of it written down then hopefully nothing will get missed and the parents will have a copy to take away and keep.

the only downside is obviously if you have a written policy you do have to adhere to it.

I have done most of the above, and am presently working on risk assessments - those are important (and it seems very long and time consuming  )

I don't think you are required to have your policies in place for your pre-reg visit, I never wrote my policies until I started minding. I wasn't asked at my pre-reg about any paperwork, it was really just a safety check and to make sure I was a suitable person.

We have been told that under the new EYFS there are certain statutary policies and then its up to you what you want to do ontop of that. The ones you have to have correspond to the statutary guidance in your EYFS pack. Haven't got my list to hand but if I have time later will try and get back and let you know what we were told you Have to have

No you don't need them in place but I thought I may as well get them sorted so when CRB comes through I am not holding myself up with not having anything in place.
It depends on whether you have the time to get them sorted before your pre reg visit. I found it handy to be able to give the folder to the inspector to have a nose at.

Our council says that we should really have the following:
Safeguarding Children
Complaints procedure
Missing/Lost child procedure
Uncollected child procedure
Admissions policy
Working in partnership with parents statement/info for parents
Statement about yourself/familly/assistants.
Confidentiality policy
Safety statement and procedures
Outings and permission forms
Emergency evacuation procedure (fire, flood, gas leak, alien invasion!)
Personal emergency plan-What would happen to the mindees if you were badly hurt and could not talk?
Equality of Opportunities
(Look at pg 25 of EYFS book)
Administering medication and PRIOR permission forms
Illness/sickness procedures and policy
Accident, incidents and pre-existing injuries procedures- links with Safeguarding children.
No smoking policy
Behaviour policy/House rules
Anti-bullying policy
Health and safety policy-link with other relavent policies
And they reckon that is the BARE minimum!

When i had my pre reg the inspector said he didn't have to ask me as much as he normally would as i'd done all my policies and extra stuff like sample menu.
