Chinese New Year Celebrations

Just ahd a lovely afternoon in town watching the new year celebrations, the lion dance and then the dragon dance, traditional music and dancing, fan dancing and displays. Lots of crafts to buy (great prices) and they gave children a red money pocket (choccie coins) - they let me have a couple extra for the other children I look after but weren't with me. Tried jasmine tea and a variety of others, moon cakes.... brilliant

My own son was a bit disappointed that the lanterns we made the other day where nothing like the lanterns that were on display! oh well you win some you lose some :rolleyes:

i'm taking my own children up to london for the procession and stuff on sunday, but nothing happening locally today round here:(

It sounds like a lot of fun!!
Nothing here today either but we are having our own celebration!!
I have cooked a chinese dinner and we have just finished a nice collage with lots of bits from chinese newspaper.
They are now playing with the cars and trucks and I suppose we can pretend that they are chinese make!!:laughing:
I am really enjoying celebrating it!!

I was pleased, as nothing was done in pre school or school today

We made paper lanterns and ate chinese food ( thanks Morrisons :thumbsup: ) and had a go at using chopsticks.

we did the same
and we also made chinese fans and coin pockets and ate noodles with sweet and sour sauce, i fogot the duck and panckes so we'll have that tomorrow

We done lanterns today and played with noodles at the cooking group as a sensory activity (messy!!!) one of my mindees who is nearly 4 blew me away with her chinese writing on her lantern :)
