I asked the question before about getting them etc.

I went into asda earlier and they had the proper detectors and these ones
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CARBON-MONOXIDE-DETECTOR-x-2-BE-SAFE-ON-HOLIDAY_W0QQitemZ120364582166QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK _Safety_Alarms?hash=item120364582166&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1296|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A13 18

th elinked ones i guess only last so long, but other than that is there a reason to only have the obe kind?

Can I use either

thanks:thumbsup:

Hi
Couldn't activate the link on your thread but think this from the FAQ on British Gas own website should answer your question

Q.5 What sort of carbon monoxide detector should I buy?

A British Standard approved one with an audible alarm. These have batteries which will last for up to five years and have a loud alarm which goes off when carbon monoxide is detected.

Other detectors work on the ‘spot’ principle where a coloured spot on a cardboard detector changes colour when carbon monoxide is detected. However, we don’t recommend these as they have a life of around six months and you must remember to replace them regularly.

They also may only change colour when certain appliances are working so you would need to be looking at them all the time to notice any change.

Carbon monoxide can be potentially lethal at night while you are sleeping and these spot detectors would not wake you if the deadly gas was detected.

Hope this is useful to you

I got the boots one that was £34.99 and put it next to my boiler, as well as the spot one for next to the gas fire (which is never ever on)

the one I bought has a audible alarm

I have a Fire Angel, they stock in most diy stores. They are over £20 to 330 odd quid, but well worth it.
