Hi,

As title says I have my first parent meeting tomorrow and I'm really nervous!! I know the parent a bit as her elder child goes to the pre-school where my DD goes and she wants me to mind her 13 month old:)
I think because I know her its harder to discuss things like fees - what if she thinks I'm overcharging!?!
I know I'm probably worrying over nothing but just want to get it over with:panic:

I am sure you will be ok Liz

Start the way you mean to go on though and treat her like someone you do not know

Good luck

Hi Liz - dont panic we have all been there.

Try to get a little organised tonight - simply put - get all the things you need to show her (paperwork etc) and put them together in order. Have a look through your contracts and fill in as much information as you can - like your fees - AND DONT PUT YOURSELF DOWN - this is a really demanding job and you are worth every single penny!

I take the contracts around to their house to complete - it gives me time to think, and of course you then get an insight into their lives (ticks a box for ofsted too!) :littleangel:

And by the way - I get nervous every time a new parent comes around - its like sitting an exam, I have just got use to it by getting into a sort of set routine.

Thanks Ladies,

I think I'm sorted on the paperwork front - been printing them all off today and most are in place now :) Just nervous about the £ side of it but I dont know why I should be because its not as if I would do the job for free:laughing:

I agree with Angel. Start the way you mean to go on. Remember above all you are a professional offering specialist services. Keep thinking what that plumber wouldnt think twice about charging you!!

THINK POSITIVE!!!! good luck

Don't be nervous. Your policies look great, everythings in one place for her to look at. Just be yourself and I know you will be fine.

I give the parent all my fees details before they visit. They are on my website or I give them a brief leaflet if they don't have internet access, that way if the fees are too high then they can cancel the visit and not waste both our times. I did find it hard discussing fees though but stick to your guns we have a very responsible job looking after their precious genes and we are not paid enough!

That's a coincidence - I mentioned that to my CM friend yesterday. I said I think we should go round the mindees houses at least once. I have had a child in my care for around 4 years - lives 2 streets away - never been invited over the doorstep. (He did say though that my house is cleaner and tidier than his - phew, lol).

Good luck - sell yourself :)
