Well after making half a dozen to see them all collapse in a heap we finally got there in the end
I did the cutting out the children did the rest

We also made a fan
I used finger paints for both the lantern and the fan I found it easier with the children only being 2 and 3 years

good idea using finger paints hope you don't mind but i will do this with ours as they are all under 3 as well

They're lovely Angel, good idea using the finger paints with the little ones. We're starting on Chinese New Year next week too, keeping it nice and simple as mine are only toddlers.:) :)

I got 6 little tubs of glitter paint from asda
They were not finger paints - but they were by the time we had finished with them haha

After seeing this we made them using felt tip stamper pens and the results were really good.

Thanks Angel. I have only just returned to childminding after my fathers funeral and hadn't even realised it is Chinese New Year! I hope to have a go at these tomorrow - I need a distraction and I think these lanterns may just fit the bill!
