We have made a few of these today and they look really nice

But ............

When we paint them they collapse into a heap and look rubbish

What am I doing wrong?

How is everyone else making theirs - I dont remember having this problem last year

We have made some with paper and some with card

Then we have painted them - this is when they seem to collapse

So we had another go and painted the card / paper BEFORE making the lantern if you know what I mean
We waited for them to dry then cut out the lantern

That still did not work

They are fine till we get the paint to them

Maybe we will just have to decorate them or leave them white

Ideas needed please

We use felts or crayons and the lanterns are fine. Perhaps the paint is too heavy and that's why it's collapsing?

I just used red paper or card or white paper and decorated them.

We used glitter glue - let them dry and then put them together

We have used glitter and crayons too

Yeah maybe the paint is too heavy but the card we have used is really thick

Paints too heavy Angel, stick to pens and glitter glue or similar.

Have fun
