Hi, can anyone tell me of any websites/resources etc that would help with preparing shrove tuesday activites. The activites would be to encourage children to celebrate shrove tuesday and to understand what shrove tuesday is all about.

Many Thanks
Zoe

Shrove Tuesday is 5th February this year and yes it is pancake day! It is the last day before the period of Lent which begins on Ash Wednesday. Pancakes are eaten on this day because they contain fat butter and eggs which are forbidden during Lent.

Perhaps that is not a true reflection of doing pancake tossing with the children. I am sure they end up on the ceiling or the floor!

In France, pancake day is a very big deal.
We have a carnival on that day at school. We go to school dressed up and all the mums prepare pancakes and bring them to school. We then have a great party and we eat pancake all day and parade in our dressing up clothes. Best memories ever!!!!:jump for joy:
